I have no connections to any of the organisations listed with the exception of the IFRC Global Road Safety Partnership and the Association of Road Risk Managers.

International Organisations

The Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1999 in response to global recognition of road crash deaths and injuries as a human-made health crisis. Hosted by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), we are governed through a constitution approved by a Steering Committee of our members and work in line with the Strategic Plan 2022 to 2030.

Our members are leading multi- and bi-lateral development agencies, governments, businesses, and civil society organizations.

The GRSP is led by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who has overall responsibility for all operations, and by a Management Team that works with the CEO to plan and execute the operational activities.

Our role is to create and support multi-sector road safety partnerships that are engaged with front-line good practice road safety interventions in countries and communities throughout the world. We play a powerful role in capacity building and training of road safety practitioners and traffic police, engage actively in advocacy at all levels, provide road safety programme coordination at the global level, and are a recognised expert source of road safety knowledge and good practice.

Our people are road safety professionals with extensive expertise

To join the Association is to join a network that has existed since 1909 at the dawn of the Motor Age. More than 100 years later, the Association continues to foster and facilitate global discussion and knowledge sharing on roads and road transport. The Association now boasts 124 government members worldwide and retains consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

As the voice of more than 3.5 million companies operating mobility and logistics services in over 100 countries, we lead solutions to help the world move better. IRU’s work supports trade, economic growth, jobs, safety, the environment and communities.

At the heart of IRU are millions of journeys across the planet every day: people and goods moving to where they need to be, in buses, coaches, taxis or trucks, for all, or even just a small part, of their journey.

In September 2020, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/74/299 "Improving global road safety", proclaiming the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, with the ambitious target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. WHO and the UN regional commissions, in cooperation with other partners in the UN Road Safety Collaboration, have developed a Global Plan for the Decade of Action, which was released in October 2021.

National UK Organisations

Road Safety GB is a national road safety organisation made up of representatives from groups across the UK, including local government road safety teams.

Our aim is to reduce the number and severity of road collisions – and by doing so to reduce loss of life and personal injury – by raising awareness of road safety and safer road user behaviour by providing training, advice, information, leadership, research, publicity, informed comment and other services to our members and other national and regional road safety stakeholders.

We work to develop a range of educational initiatives – often in partnership with other organisations – all of which are widely publicised to inform the national debate on road safety.

We also aim to inform and influence public opinion by making available information on the subject of road safety, working with other organisations to achieve shared goals.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety. We are dedicated to protecting people and places, and helping everyone lead safer and healthier lives.

Our role goes beyond worker protection to include public assurance. We work to ensure people feel safe where they live, where they work and, in their environment.

ARRM is the essential membership organisation for professionals and organisations involved in work-related road safety and the management of occupational road risk, collaborating with other organisations to promote innovation and share best practice.
